The Syndicate started as a crazy idea one weekend when my wife was out of town. The goal? Support great writers while reinventing the world of advertising. Ad networks like The Deck and Fusion Ads pioneered the concept of really great and relevant advertising. However, a new form of tech advertising had cropped up in recent years, the RSS Sponsorship - pioneered by sites like Daring Fireball, Minimal Mac, and Shawn Blanc.

These RSS sponsorships are fantastic, and have allowed many writers to go full time while communicating messages from interesting and relevant companies. However, in the world of advertising it's all about scale. That's where The Syndicate came in.

By bringing together nine core sites, sponsors can very easily achieve scale in promoting themselves. This is a key component of The Syndicate's success. The Syndicate is also the only way to reach engaged, tech-savvy readers who may never visit the site, but completely consume it through their feed readers.

I founded The Syndicate and run day to day operations. I have handled all aspects of the business:

  • Site Design, development, and copywriting
  • Sponsor billing and publisher payments
  • Business Development
  • Sponsorship Operations
  • Ad server management
  • Site design concepting in Keynote
