Hi, I'm Marcelo.

I'm a designer—but I've never really stayed inside that lane.

From the moment I used my first computer (a Mac Plus), I've been fascinated in finding ways to make technology more useful and accessible. It's my job, but it's also my hobby - tinkering and building.

Over the years, my work has pulled me into code, product strategy, team building, and anything else that helps move the work forward. Blurring the boundaries of design leads to better solutions. It brings me closer to the problem and the solution - even if if it means working outside the usual boundaries of "design."

These days, I lead design at GoodDay Software, where I'm working on what AI-powered inventory and accounting could look like for Shopify businesses. It's the perfect mix of overlooked complexity and unmet user needs, all while imagining the interaction paradigms of the AI-first future.

I've worked in Fortune 500s, big tech, scrappy startups, and even bootstrapped and sold my own business. What I've learned through all of it is this: the most meaningful work usually happens when you stop worrying about whose job it is - and just build the thing.

That's part of why I'm so excited about what AI is enabling right now. Tools are changing. Constraints are shifting. Designers can test ideas faster, ship smarter, and play with the edges of the stack in a way that wasn't possible before.

Outside of work, I live just outside Dallas with my wife, our four kids, and our very energetic Bernedoodle puppy. I love smoking barbecue, working out in my garage gym, and spending time with my church community.

If you're building something interesting - or thinking about the future of tools and how we work - I'd love to connect.
